Save the edited file and any new node created from that template will be created with the configured IDLE PC value. Once inside the template, locate the idle PC variable and set it to the determined value: (They just sit idle when powered on) I've reinstalled / reloaded the images etc and no luck with both setups. If you are editing a different template they are all found within that directory. Since then both my EVE-NG and GNS3 setups will not boot any Cisco VIRL images. For this template I will be using the command “ vi /opt/unetlab/html/templates/c7200.php”. Go ahead and close the session running the IOS node in CLI. One thing I really like about EVE-NG is the ability to use a web client instead. Now go back to the SSH session running “top” and see how the CPU is doing:Īs can be seen, a single IOS instance is only taking 1% CPU instead of 25% which is much better! As I continue on my quest for the perfect lab I have been messing around with EVE-NG (a competitor to GNS3 and VIRL). Then start the IOS session over but appended with “–idle-pc=” and the value selected. The highest count is usually the best value to use, so quit out of the IOS session with “Ctrl+]” and then”q”. To do this, navigate back to the SSH session running the IOS emulation and use the keyboard combination “Ctrl+]” and then hit “i”:

To fix this issue, we need to have Dynamips (the software that emulates the Cisco IOS) calculate a better IDLE PC value compared to the default. Once the IOS device completes booting (after exiting the initial configuration dialog) navigate back to the first SSH session with top running and observe the CPU load:Īs will be noticed, the CPU is running pretty high for a single IOS device running. When it does, I can alt-tab trough all the other programs and background programs keep. Since 2 days my EVE client keeps randomly freezin over. Now run the IOS from the second CLI, for this tutorial I will be issuing the IDLE PC for a C7200 node: Let me start off by saying that I couldn’t really find the right forum/sub to post this in and that I’ve already submitted a ticket about this issue without any response.

Open a second SSH session to the EVE-NG CLI, while leaving the first SSH session open. This post is going to be a quick guide on configuring the default IDLE PC settings for EVE-NG.įirst ssh to the EVE-NG CLI and issue the “top” command: Doing extensive Google searching only resulted in a single document on the “old” way of configuring the default IDLE PC and a bunch of hits for GNS3 configuration. For example, configuring the default IDLE PC for a Cisco IOS node in GNS3 is very straightforward. A draw back I’ve run into with EVE-NG is its lack of quick and easy customization. I do not respond to EVE mails about forum moderation. Eve-NG No IP address on interface pnet0 Others 09:54:58 views: null Some time ago, I reinstalled the system on my computer, and then did a multicast bridge experiment between GNS3 and eNSP.

One thing I really like about EVE-NG is the ability to use a web client instead of needing a thick client like you do for GNS3 and VIRL. Anyone else having this issue or have any ideas. With its hull bonus to resistances and 8 mid slots it can be fit with a monster tank and still have slots left over for tackle and utility modules. If the problem returns I will try your suggestion. As I continue on my quest for the perfect lab I have been messing around with EVE-NG (a competitor to GNS3 and VIRL). A radically different ship to its regular Scorpion counterpart, the Scorpion Navy Issue (commonly abbreviated CNS) is a combat-oriented missile boat, with more in common with a Raven than a Scorpion. I have done nothing different, but can use all buttons again. You can also try and change it to English (United Kingdom) - UK if you already have the US layout.Īgain, thanks for your reply. If you already have the US keyboard layout, then check if there's any other layouts in the list, and remove them, and select the US layout as the default one. You can then off course change it back to your normal layout after testing. I realize that this might not be the keyboard layout you normally use, but I ask to try this and see if it works. 1) Go to Control Panel -> Region and Language -> Keyboard and Language tab -> Change keyboards.Ģ) Under General tab, add English (United States) - US keyboard, and then select the English (United States) - US as the default input language and press 'Apply', and after that remove all the other keyboards on the list and press Okģ) Now start the EVE client normally and see if they keys would work.
